26-Aug-08 4:53 26-Aug-08 4:53 I have a need for this code, but I am not a c programmer, sure if I was able to dedicate enough time I could eventually figure it out. Could someone please post a vb.net version of this code so I may use in an app I'm developing. I tried to convert it myself (coverted code below) but I recieve 'Value of type 'Integer' cannot be converted to 'Test.Form1.CPP'.
If you need any further information I would be glad to provide. Thanks in advance for your help. The function which is explained in my article disables windows file protection only for the specified file given in the second parameter. I gave a tested example on the system32 calc.exe sytem file. When the function succeedes you can modify calc.exe as you like and windows will not replace (repair) the file. But, of course all other system files stay protected by windows because you didn't used SetFileException for the other files.

If you would to disable completly WFP for all system files you can modify sfcdisable reg value. But SetFileException is much more stealther. modified at 16:20 Sunday 3rd June, 2007. Through Dependency Walker we can see that sfcos.dll is exporting 11 functions: 4 of them are exported by name which are: SfcGetNextProtectedFile SfcIsFileProtected SfcWLEventLogoff SfcWLEventLogon And the left 7 mysterious functions are exported by ordinal! SetSfcFileException is a function located at the 5th ordinal in sfcos.dll but its name is never mentioned in Dependency Walker because the effects of that function are extremely dangerous for the security of protected files in Windows. I think that this is a security hole and could be exploited by hackers in many purposes.
